Bryan Caplans Fresh View On Singapores Politics And Censorship

December 10th, 2008 - In Singapore Politics & Economy

“Well, I think it’s not true that it’s a dictatorship. It’s a British parliamentary system and by the accounts of international observers the elections are not corrupt”

A Fresh Point Of View

Economist Blogger Bryan Caplan recently visisted our island Singapore to discuss one of Singapores more sensitive topics, namely “Public Opinions”, with several public audiences.

I personally missed the discussion but luckily Travel Blog Gadling.com Writer Aaron Hotfelder had the chance to meet him in person after the talks and had a quick interview with him about his experience in Singapore and his personal point of view on topics like internet censorship, democracy and immigration in Singapore now that he got the “first hand impression”.

“..the standard media are quite dull..but”

The interview itself is so interesting and differs from the usual point of view we see expressed here from either anti-government bloggers or pro-government newspapers / columnists because it is by a non citizen, who got the chance to really observe the correctness of the prejudices about Singapore, existing in the western hemisphere.

Singapore: Where Do I Start?

Furthermore Bryan Caplan made a couple of more posts on his experience in Singapore himself on his blog Econlog which again, i can only recommend to read since they display a rather neutral and objective point of view, on what gets so eagerly discussed in the local blogs and forums.
