More and more people (now finally in Singapore as well) are getting attacked by the Poker fever.
And if you are an expat coming from overseas, where Poker since years has been established as a mainstream “sport” and hobby, you probably want to know how you can follow your Poker game in Singapore as well.

I don’t want to lead anyone into (an even deeper) financial disaster or the loss of his last chopstick, but in regards to the soon to open Casinos here in Singapore, its a good time to start now, if you want to get the “full portion” of Poker once the Integrated Resorts doors open for the public.
The General Misunderstanding
When I started playing Poker in Singapore there hung a deep and mysterious cloud of doing something illegal over our heads and chip staples in front of us.
The general understanding was that everything related to gambling was strictly forbidden here in Singapore, until I had my first “Chinese New Year”, and suddenly everybody around me was involved in crazy Mahjong or Black Jack sessions.
I soon after had a discussion with a local friend and asked him about the detailed law situation regarding losing your money on the green table.
He couldn’t really answer my question in detail, but pointed out that gambling in general only gets illegal if you involve money, and that looking at the Asian customs, gambling is simply a big part of their culture, which everybody seems to understand and respect here.
Where To Buy Your Poker Chips In Singapore
Even though the countdown for the opening of Singapore’s first casino is ticking down quickly and online registrations for the most famous Poker web pages are on a all time high in Singapore, its still difficult to find a proper “Poker Shop” with qualified service staff, that doesn’t rolls his eyes when you ask for the Poker chips weight or tries to sell you dices when asking for Poker equipment.

Hi, you can actually buy a decent set at Shop-and-save supermarkets islandwide.
Name – Poker Olymp (i think)
Price : $14.90
Box – Tin Rectangular Green box
Consist of 200 chips (5 colors, 40 each, plastic but GOOD quality)
2 Cards, Dealer, Big Blind and Small Blind buttons
The cards are pretty lousy but the chips are pretty good quality. 200 chips is good for 4-5 people playing at the same time buy 2 sets for a full table worth of players (only $30).

I faced the same issues whilst trying to buy my own poker chipsets in Singapore. I like quality, and I like it at a good price too.
So I took things into my own hands and sourced for the manufacturers for US and Eur markets and retailers and whilst on a work business trip to China, I spent a couple of days of free time to seek out and met the suppliers themselves.
Thus I will be bringing in a limited qty of good quality chipsets from them and cards from them via sea-freight.

For chips, if you really want to have a personal feel, you can actually customize it, just like i did. Contact me and I will point you to the right direction.
There are also decent home games where the blinds are 1/2 or 2/4 and buy-ins range from $200, $500, etc.

try bluegate poker, its got some warehouse in kallang. It carries paulson chips as well as some cheaper alternatives, the best place i found for poker stuff in SG. They do tables and cards and all sorts of other stuff. google ot, they have a website.
The prices are a little more than what you’d get off online shops but you’d save on shipping.
