When you move to Singapore many people, including me, bring over too much stuff.

I felt like having to move my whole life and now I am stuck here with… all the things I gathered throughout my whole life.

You don’t really need your shoe boxes of old love letters or camping heaters, there wont be any use for your winter clothes neither, and your book collection? I know its hard, but better leave it at home…

Selling Things In Singapore

If you however couldn’t resist and now its time to move on and your moving company just quoted you some astronomic prices because your three TVs and 500 Magazines wont fit into your suitcases… then you should consider selling your old things.

I was skeptical first, to offer my things here online (which is the best and easiest solution) for sale in Singapore.
But never underestimate the buying power of a (huge) expatriat community. There is actually not much that you wont be able to buy or sell here, and being on an island, at least here, offers you some advantages I will list now.

Cheap Cheap

- The furthest you would have to travel for a door to door delivery or pickup is maybe 45 minutes.

- Since we live on an island, you most probably will be able to safe the posting fees completely since you either meet up or let your buyer pickup the sold items.

- This of course gives you the freedom to make some “adjustments” on the original price :)

- Furthermore, you might have some unnoticed valuables here. Things you brought from overseas, and that you wont get here.

Ever found a collection of nice “Weissbier” glasses or German Comedy DVDs in Singapores shops? No? Exactly!

Where To Sell
  • Singapore eBay (www.ebay.com.sg)

Yes, there is a local version of the most used auction platform of the web available here.

Although, most products can be put into or between the categories of PSP accessors and Restaurant vouchers, it is a convenient and easy way to sell your old things.

Especially for things you would usually throw away, this is the place to get the one or other extra dollar.

  • Singapore Craigslist (singapore.craigslist.com.sg)

The biggest classified community on the web. Has its local Singapore version as well.

Its perfect to create a quick, free offer that will be read by thousands of people.

Very popular especially for servicing offers, like teaching, etc.

You Still Got Something Left?

Then you can also try one of the many black boards at the supermarkets (eg. Fairprice or ColdStorage) and sometimes bus stations (eg. Bedok).

There are usually little papers available to write down your offer directly, or you bring a pre made one to pin it at the black board.
