But going somewhere else though might be a bit of a problem these days too. Scratching Head. What has happened to my fresh cut fruits, my kopi c, always empty Ezylink card value and well, the chicken rice downstairs. Downstairs at my now newly Condo priced – same old HDB flat.

People in Singapore don’t speak up much. That’s good, sometimes, like when I spill my Kopi over the Hawker table. But much more.. it pisses me off. Like when one person forgets to step on the left side of the escalator, and the next person walking up just stops behind, where a short and polite reminder would get the whole flow going again, and instead clogs the whole thing.

Yesterday I twittered this, “Aren’t Stewaredesses supposed to be pretty?”. Today you might read this and say “Watch out, Stereo Type” or whatever, I don’t care. It was just another tip of an ugly iceberg that practically crash landed my positive experience of in-flight “entertainment”. Shortly after we touched down in Singapore, late once again, or well, have we ever been on time anyway? Within the last months my frustration about the budget airlines operating from Singapore grew just as much as their service and cockiness got worse and worse. Their new luggage rip-off is only the latest scam adding another good point to below list,of why to avoid them at all costs, literally..

A story of how Singapore failed to take this onetime chance of marketing opportunity, stranded people and need for sudden decisions in turning bad to good.

It is actually not a myth that around the same time when young and thirsty Sir Raffles stepped on the shores of Soon-To-Become Singapore in 1819, declaring tax haven for the sailors and pirates around the globe and being off for the first Tiger Beer the minute after, some smart soul in some small place, called Cambridge University in England, looked at the torn leather ball in the corner of his cold room, and on some dirty simple sheet of paper drafted together, what would become the rules and guidelines of soccer and how we play it till this very day.

It started all of with my (by now famous) post How to buy a Google Nexus Phone in Singapore after which I couldn’t resist any longer and finally ordered my own Google Nexus One in a spontaneous move of upgrading my old brick of a mobile phone. If I had only known what would follow I … well .. I didnt. So the unbelievable story of failure on Google and DHL side began. People have lately complained that I do not complain enough anymore. Those people on a side note were solely local friends. So here I go, and don’t come later with those usual hate comments. (I hear people now whispering “Ohoh, where is he going here”). Yes, its boring to hear “Stupid AngMo,we don’t need you, go home if you dont like it” for the 1000. time. Get creative for god sake. Besides, if you really follow my blog you might have noticed I actually love Singapore.
