Sometimes the most basic things are the most significant when it comes to feeling comfortable or “home” while traveling or moving to another country.

There are enough other complicated things to take care of and organize, so that a “simple” task like grocery shopping should stay a simple task and not produce even more entries on your “to-do list”.

Some people avoid Orchard road completely during these days, some people avoid Christmas completely these days and some people long to their common home customs, when usually they would go out in the cold, putting lights on the big trees in the snowy garden and having hot chocolate inside, next to the fireplace.

The breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day. In Singapore every meal is considered the most important meal of the day. So no wonder we find not mere bread, with jam and a bowl of cereals on the breakfast table, but a big range of “interesting” other varieties. The wide range of different cultures gives you literally every option to chose from, English breakfast with beans and fries, typical western with a plane sandwich or rice and vegetables with pork soup.

I was just reading the latest news on the ongoing conflict in Tibet, when a somehow strange but familiar smell started to spread over my desk, obviously coming out of my computers speakers…my mouse pointer intentionally followed the odors smell and finally ended up on the freshly made up.

Uargs, not much to say, just that it doesn’t taste as good as expected. Well, actually, how can one expect Coffee thrown together with Lychee Syrup would taste good at all?

I think there is something like a “Eurasian border not to cross”…and Lychee Latte in my opinion definitely lies behind it :)
