The Quickest Way Of Getting Your Digital Pictures Printed In Singapore

I recall myself running through the streets of Singapore, chaotic, Christmas Eve, with a nice picture album under my arm, thought as a present for one of my dear friends. Only problem, the picture album was still empty.

I need that picture! NOW!

I recall myself running through the streets of Singapore, chaotic, Christmas Eve, with a nice picture album under my arm, thought as a present for one of my dear friends. Only problem, the picture album was still empty.

The photos “to be in that album” were still nicely and secure stored on the USB stick in my pocket, but that didn’t help me in any way getting those photos transferred into a “normal real state of being” if possible on paper, and if not now, then latest 5 minutes ago.

I should have known better since its not the first time I find myself in this or a similar situation. Pictures missing for the birthday letter, pictures missing for the job application, pictures missing as present for the departing friend. Every time last minute.
Its always the same need of getting something real out of bits and bytes, best within the shortest amount of time.

And this is where the “Photo Kiosks” come in really useful. Digital Photo Printing Kiosks are more or less self operated mini version of the usual Print Lab, packed into ATM machines sized boxes, that kind shop owners of all kind place in front of their counter, to help people like me in their desperate search for the goddess of picture development.

Digital Photo Printing Kiosks

There are countless different Photo Kiosk placed in Singapore’s city district by now, with different quality, service level and prices. I personally have used Fuji film at Clifford Center, Kodak at Vivo City and some smaller I cant recall the name at Singapora Plaza and the area around Raffles Place.

Storage Devices You Can Use

You can bring your pictures along in almost every kind of digital storage possibility.

  • Floppy Disks
  • CD, DVD
  • Memory Cards (Memory Sticks, SD, MiniSd, XD, CF, MMC, etc)
  • Mobile Phone Memory (Wireless transmition)

The average Photo Kiosk accepts pictures in TIFF (.tif), Bitmap (.bmp) or JPEG (.jpg) format.

Choose And Order

Once the Kiosk has read and accepted your stored pictures you get the selection on a touchscreen from where you can choose your pictures to print, the according sizes, amount etc.

All you then have to do pressing the submit button, paying at the counter, and then collecting your pictures after they get printed by the machine directly.

Prize and Quality

Both of the above criteria come a little bit short, taking in account the criteria of “speed” which in this case is obviously your main importance. Otherwise you can choose the normal picture development service that comes cheaper, with better quality but also longer waiting time.

In the end I am glad these Kiosks exist in Singapore and offer a very convenient way of doing your last minute picture development, in a efficient way that lets you still choose your personal setup like size, colors etc. and only comes short of the better quality and cheaper prize compared to “normal” picture development.
