So there is this “feature” todays post delivery services provide in most cases, which is either called “EXPRESS” – “SPEEDUP” or whatever name that indicates the post should arrive earlier then on the normal way. Its thought for persons like me who tend to not forget important dates, but realize a week before that he is currently not in the same city where he could just drive by and deliver the package himself in urgent needs.

NO, i sit in Singapore which is some oceans and some more countries away…time is valuable…and very limited when it then comes to sending letters or packages over half the world…and thats why i am was so happy these services exist…

But Its Urgent Officer!!

Now, since a couple of weeks i experience something strange. Whenever my alarm bell rings and i recognize once again i have to send something overseas ASAP i get everything together, walk to the next SingPost office and declare my freight as EXPRESS.

Now as mentioned something strange happens then usually.

Instead of taking my goods, letting me pay the extra charge for EXPRESS and sending my stuff off to the airport straight away, i now usually get the answer:

PostOfficer: “Sir, are you sure you want to send it via Express? Its not much quicker, only one or two days”

And here is where my common understanding of selling products stops….WHAT?

First. YES. I want to send it via Express because its urgent

Second. YES. I know its quicker thats why i want to send it via Express

Third. YES. But why do you tell me that your service (that you sell) is not as good as i might expect, possibly leading me to use the cheaper service, earning you less money??

What the hell??

Now, unfortunately i did not listen to the Officers, and used EXPRESS service indeed. Now, my understanding of EXPRESS and as stated by those people is a delivery time of 5 to 7 business days. I dont know what they do over in the back of their post offices, but from all my last 5 EXPRESS sendings, NONE!!! arrived before TWO WEEKS!!!!! I probably had been quicker using the normal service…

Today i discovered the below on Alice Chongs blog, and now i dont wonder anymore why it takes so long…

 Do you see what I saw? Is it rubbish? Is it unattended article? What is it? Hmm….

Now, lets take a closer look. It is large 3 sacks of postal letters left lying around unattended. There can well be many confidential letters, such as credit cards sent by various banks. What is SingPost doing?!
